ZipCloud - FAQ, Review, and More

By | October 25, 2013

ZipCloud is a service used to backup your computer. Although backing up your important documents to an external hard drive may seem like the popular choice, external hard drives will eventually die. Cloud services to backup your data are secure guaranteed to never fail.

How much does ZipCloud cost?

The cheapest plan is $4.49/month to back up 75GB. The most expensive plan is unlimited backup for $6.95/month.

Can I use multiple computers?

You can pay to add an additional computer. However, with the drag and drop utility, you can manually add files to your backup drive. So, grab a USB, and manually load up other computers that you want. Although it's tedious, it will save you money.

How can I access my stored files?

You can access your stored files on any computer. Accessing them is simple. Just visit ZipCloud's website to see all your files. You can also download all your files onto any computer. The easiest way to do this is by using FTP and a free utility such as FileZilla. The host is and the login/password is the same as your ZipCloud account.

Can I try it before I buy?

Yep, and I encourage you to do that. You can have a trial without paying.

Does upload speed slow down with the unlimited plan?

No, it does not. I have not seen a decrease in performance, and I have already uploaded many, many gigs.

How long does it take to upload all my files?

It can take a while. But here's an example. I've uploaded 150 gigabytes (which is far more than an average user will need to upload) in about 10 nights, letting my computer run overnight. But it depends on your connection speed and bandwidth. Plug your computer into the wall and let it run overnight for a few nights - that should be sufficient.
